{"id":1060,"date":"2009-10-04T07:20:34","date_gmt":"2009-10-04T14:20:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cciforum.dreamhosters.com\/?p=1060"},"modified":"2012-12-08T11:27:01","modified_gmt":"2012-12-08T19:27:01","slug":"sometimes-yes-is-the-right-answer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cciforum.dreamhosters.com\/?p=1060","title":{"rendered":"Sometimes Yes is the right answer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Part of my reason for posting this morning is to see if I can do it.\u00c2\u00a0 My last post required Kathleen&#8217;s intervention.<\/p>\n<p>I was interested to see the comment from &#8220;Lois S&#8221;, expressing the euphoria that can come from saying &#8220;Yes&#8221;.\u00c2\u00a0 It seems\u00c2\u00a0a true perception that as well as having a lurking self that needs to be confronted (just say No), most people also have ingranined\u00c2\u00a0habits that deny the possibility of joy.\u00c2\u00a0 And then &#8220;Yes&#8221; is the right answer.<\/p>\n<p>David discers how saying &#8220;no&#8221; is not the end of the discussion&#8211;as with a young child who keeps nudging us to have it&#8217;s way&#8211;but I&#8217;ve noticed that giving in to the urge to scratch is not so different from not giving in.\u00c2\u00a0 In both cases, another urge to scratch is quickly nudging me to lift my hand.<\/p>\n<p>In my own experience with these practices, I glimpsed how the self isn&#8217;t comfortable with the future as an open field of possibilities.\u00c2\u00a0 The self is very interested in the future, but only if it promices to satisfy its wants.\u00c2\u00a0 Doing a Kum Nye exercise, it&#8217;s hard to relax and let time unfold in a spirit of acceptance.\u00c2\u00a0 There is this presence that just wants to be done with it.\u00c2\u00a0 I think that may be the self, mapping out the iterations in an abstract way and then wanting to rush through it.\u00c2\u00a0 Perhaps the self can&#8217;t experience the pleasure of dwelling on experience\u00c2\u00a0with an open-hearted appreciation?<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;Michael<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Part of my reason for posting this morning is to see if I can do it.\u00c2\u00a0 My last post required Kathleen&#8217;s intervention.
