{"id":1485,"date":"2010-03-09T10:31:25","date_gmt":"2010-03-09T18:31:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cciforum.dreamhosters.com\/?p=1485"},"modified":"2017-09-25T09:41:04","modified_gmt":"2017-09-25T16:41:04","slug":"how-do-we-move-from-point-to-point-in-awareness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cciforum.dreamhosters.com\/?p=1485","title":{"rendered":"How do we move from point to point in awareness?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cciforum.dreamhosters.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Observing-Without-Owning-Ex-23-graph.bmp\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1486\" src=\"https:\/\/cciforum.dreamhosters.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Observing-Without-Owning-Ex-23-graph.bmp\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">I used to think X (in the <em>Point of Transition<\/em> exercise) was something like being a passenger in a car or train, looking out the side window as the scenery close-in blurs by.\u00c2\u00a0 To take a <em>fix<\/em>, you focus your eyes, as your head might whip around momentarily to follow a point.\u00c2\u00a0 For that moment you <em>fix a frame<\/em> on the scene, but that moment went by too fast to open to the widest view.\u00c2\u00a0 You passed by in a blur; the narrow moment was gone.\u00c2\u00a0 That moment was &#8216;A&#8217;, and you the traveler, are &#8216;X&#8217;.\u00c2\u00a0 The next fix on the scenery you take up will be &#8216;A1&#8217;.\u00c2\u00a0 Because it seems as if <em>momentum<\/em> causes scenery to blur by so fast before you get the chance to take that next fix &#8211; something is definitely being missed. \u00c2\u00a0The traveler remembers where s\/he began the trip, and has projected an arrival, and seems to limit the <em>traveling<\/em> experience by marking off structured moments in-between.\u00c2\u00a0 However, this metaphor would be wrong.\u00c2\u00a0 In fact, this would be a better example of how the self <em>usurps<\/em> the witness \u00e2\u20ac\u201c how the self acts <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">as if<\/span><\/em> it were X &#8212; taking up the mantle of witness. \u00c2\u00a0So that&#8217;s not it \u00e2\u20ac\u201c not <em>The Point of Transition<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">But then today the temperature was not so frigid, perfect for a walk in the park.\u00c2\u00a0 I decided to play with LOK Ex. 22, <em>The point of Transition<\/em>.\u00c2\u00a0 I watched as I moved from A to A1, thoughts about this and that, as I surveyed the scenery, the open spaces, the blue sky. \u00c2\u00a0As I walked past the occasional snow patch, left from a season high snowfall, measuring 71 inches, the sun was warm and welcoming. \u00c2\u00a0Soon my steps, breath, and balance became automatic, the mind settled down, not focused on anything in particular, I was aware of A and A1 (a linear string of events), but many other things too, all at once.\u00c2\u00a0 I seemed to be near that zero point of awareness that I sometimes experience when waking up in the morning \u00e2\u20ac\u201c not yet focused or intending, just being.\u00c2\u00a0 I think that&#8217;s what X is, a very basic open awareness, a presence that is always <em>now<\/em>, a presence I cannot ordinarily see but only <em>be<\/em>. \u00c2\u00a0Within this presence there is a unity of <em>seeing<\/em> and <em>what is seen.<\/em> This open awareness X is available to everything that arises, because everything that arises partakes of it.\u00c2\u00a0 In this knowing space, everything that arises is space, and I am the dynamic aliveness.<\/p>\n<p>David<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I used to think X (in the Point of Transition exercise) was something like being a passenger in a car or train, looking out the side window as the scenery close-in blurs by.\u00c2\u00a0 To take a fix, you focus your &hellip;
