Trying to connect the concept of “read-outs” with the third level promise that “Intimacy is” has caused me to see how I equate such admirable qualities as compassion, empathy, communication and intimacy with acts of reaching out. \u00c2\u00a0Loneliness, isolation, depression all seem to beg for a reaching out to others (other people, other points of view, other times and places). \u00c2\u00a0In light of this human need for communication, it is strange to read how everything we experience is complete in and of itself, requiring no companions in time and space, and offering no links to anything outside itself. \u00c2\u00a0I can kind of appreciate how reaching out assumes distance, isolation, and a feeling that we lack something; and it does seem that the urge to communicate can be an expression of intimacy, not a reaching out for it. \u00c2\u00a0(So I guess offering to let you be in my read-out, if you’ll let me be in yours, misses the point.) \u00c2\u00a0 Does that mean that it’s only through the unifying force of \u00c2\u00a0Great Time that we communicate at all? \u00c2\u00a0Is the idea of a Read-Out pointing out how our \u00c2\u00a0sense of \u00c2\u00a0reality is merely a mental construct, which cannot capture anything except its own categories? \u00c2\u00a0Perhaps, alongside our way of perceiving, experiencing, projecting, etc (and other related tendencies to Read-out Reality), we can still sense that we are not alone, and still search for greater integration of all that seems “real” to us? — Michael<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
