Time during the holiday season seems to work differently from time in the rest of the year: more loose and open in some ways, more condensed and intense in others. This way of thinking about it suggests that time has a strong psychological or social component, but more fundamentally, it suggests that time is not fixed or definite. That takes us closer to where we want to start this part of the program.<\/p>\n
Unit 8 (p. 52) asks you to come up with your own practice for changing the way that time typically ‘passes’ or goes by. If what I wrote above rings true, the holiday season was just that kind of practice.<\/p>\n
So now, can you find another? If you just stop right now for a few seconds and notice how time is passing, that may already be a move in the right direction.<\/p>\n
I’m not going to say anymore right now, because I notices during the fall that posts that look long on the screen tend to be discouraging. But I’ll have more to say soon. I hope that’s true for the rest of you as well.<\/p>\n
