I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m finding the quality of space and time at 5 a.m. conducive to new knowledge. The first person I communicate with is Longchenpa. The fact that he died in 1364 makes absolutely no difference; in fact, in some mysterious way, it seems to make him more available.<\/p>\n
I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m reading the first volume of his amazing trilogy, \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcKindly Bent to Ease Us\u00e2\u20ac\u2122. It concerns Mind and there is much of relevance in it to our TSK studies.<\/p>\n
In his introduction to Chapter Three, which is on Frustration and Suffering, Herbert Guenther, in talking about how body, speech and mind are at one and the same time both boundaries and also not binding, writes: \u00e2\u20ac\u0153\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6we have to start with the initial, immediately apprehended fact of an all-embracing field, which, more exactly, is a \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcpresence\u00e2\u20ac\u2122, an \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcappearance\u00e2\u20ac\u2122, not of<\/i> something but as<\/i> something and which is termed \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcobject-appearance\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 (yul-snang<\/i>).\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n
Prof. Guenther emphasises that these must be understood as \u00e2\u20ac\u0153dynamic processes of \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcappearing\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 and \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcpresentation\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 and \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcdisclosure\u00e2\u20ac\u2122. The field character of the initial situation implies that the perception of the \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcobject-appearance\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 is not something going on outside the field but is a part, and a distinct phase, of the initial situation.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d This seems to me to be profoundly relevant to our current studies of time, though I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m not philosophically qualified enough to explain why.<\/p>\n
Is Longchenpa referring here to what is known in TSK as \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcthe field communiqu\u00c3\u00a9\u00e2\u20ac\u2122?<\/p>\n
Incidentally, it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s interesting that I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m writing this today, as 1 March 1308 was Longchenpa\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s birthday. And, on a more personal note, I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve just discovered that, not only was Herbert Guenther\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s birthday the day after my own, but he was born and died in March!<\/p>\n
