Session 6, Assignment for Week 4.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Listening twice to Jack\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s recording of the KTS chapter, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Knowledge by the Knower of the Logos\u00e2\u20ac\u009d, which I had previously read on my own, I found I had to read it yet again.\u00c2\u00a0 What Jack\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s voice recording allowed me to recognize was that the elements I felt I understood served to bring to the surface something that remains essentially mysterious:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00c2\u00a0<\/strong>\u00c2\u00a0 \u00c2\u00a0 \u00c2\u00a0 \u00c2\u00a0 \u00c2\u00a0 \u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0If the \u00e2\u20ac\u02dclogos\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 is an expression of knowledge: \u00e2\u20ac\u02dccognition\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 is not restricted to \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcknowing\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 the \u00e2\u20ac\u02dclogos\u00e2\u20ac\u2122; instead it can \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcembody\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 the \u00e2\u20ac\u02dclogos\u00e2\u20ac\u2122. (KTS 417)<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00c2\u00a0<\/strong>\u00c2\u00a0I feel inspired by this possibility, without fully understanding it.\u00c2\u00a0 The characteristic of the \u00e2\u20ac\u02dclogos\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 that it is both an expression of knowledge and an object that can be known by cognition, suggests that knowledge runs through both the knowing (cognition) and the known (logos).<\/strong><\/p>\n

Meanwhile the self, with its goal-orientation, only sees the parts of the logos that support its interests.\u00c2\u00a0 Seeking to ransack the logos for useful tools, we cannot embody the logos, and we thereby rob ourselves of the riches of creativity.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00c2\u00a0<\/strong>I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m currently shopping for a little creativity and am therefore open to \u00e2\u20ac\u0153embodying\u00e2\u20ac\u009d knowledge from the logos: specifically about how corporations are despoiling the earth.\u00c2\u00a0 There is clearly a wealth of knowledge, too vast and too deeply woven into our world for me to master as a self.\u00c2\u00a0 Yet it is in in the air we breathe, the water we drink, and everything we eat.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00c2\u00a0<\/strong>While looking at this KTS chapter I was also viewing a video \u00e2\u20ac\u0153The Corporation Documentary\u00e2\u20ac\u009d, which examines corporate behaviour on a check-list that is used to diagnose psychopathology.\u00c2\u00a0 All six items were ticked.\u00c2\u00a0 Considering that corporations now have legal status as \u00e2\u20ac\u0153persons\u00e2\u20ac\u009d, and are the dominant social entities in our world, this is very alarming.\u00c2\u00a0 Reading this KTS chapter with its discernment of how the goal orientation of the self forecloses a wider embodiment of knowledge, I was struck with how \u00e2\u20ac\u02dccorporate selfhood\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 and the exclusive \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcgoal\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 of corporations to increase the bottom lines for their shareholders, virtually guarantees the death of creativity in their actions.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00c2\u00a0<\/strong>The six characteristics of a Psychopath on this diagnosic evaluation were:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00c2\u00a0<\/strong>–Callous unconcern for the feelings of others<\/strong><\/p>\n

–Incapacity to maintain enduring relationships<\/strong><\/p>\n

–Reckless disregard for the safety of others<\/strong><\/p>\n

–Deceitfulness: repeated lying and conning others for profit<\/strong><\/p>\n

–Incapacity to experience guilt<\/strong><\/p>\n

–Failure to conform to social norms with respect to lawful behaviours<\/strong><\/p>\n
