As I was reading Chapter 9 of DTS, there was a feeling that \u00e2\u20ac\u0153I\u00e2\u20ac\u009d was separate from the contents of the chapter, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153I\u00e2\u20ac\u009d was trying to make sense of what was \u00e2\u20ac\u0153real-ly\u00e2\u20ac\u009d being said about being in the present\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 until I reached the sentence \u00e2\u20ac\u0153To be in the present means to be caught up in this steady flow \u00e2\u20ac\u201c this presenting\u00e2\u20ac\u009d (p.76). For a fraction of a second I felt myself been caught up in the steady flow of this sentence and this sense of division, the sense of me being \u00e2\u20ac\u02dchere\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 and the contents of the chapter being \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcthere\u00e2\u20ac\u02dc, as something to be understood, dissolved\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcThis presenting\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 pointed to a flow that apparently made impossible for the \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcI\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 to stand still trying to make sense of what was \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcthere\u00e2\u20ac\u2122. So \u00e2\u20ac\u02dc- this presenting\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 came to me as a horse galloping and inviting me to ride in it and flow with the text!<\/p>\n
I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m not sure if this has anything to do with the discussion going on about being in the present, or about being present. But at least it made clear again how much language is important in shaping our experience, our experience of time\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 does that make sense?<\/p>\n
