This must correspond to the idea that ‘momentum’ is a movement in time, only noticeable as a progression over a span of ‘moments’.<\/p>\n
The word ‘momentous’ denotes an event so noteworty that the ‘moment’ in which it occurs stands out from all its neighbouring ‘moments’.<\/p>\n
But perhaps these uses of the words ‘momentum’ and ‘momentous’ (to indicate movement and noteworthiness respectively) come out of a human language that conceives time as a linear succession of moments. \u00c2\u00a0If this assumption were to be challenged, perhaps ‘momentousness’ could swell, burst its seed-jacket, and sprout into a greater field of time and space. \u00c2\u00a0Perhaps ‘momentum’–like the Little Engine That Could chugging up the mountainside with all the children’s toys–would embrace the flight of\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0a whole flock of ‘moments’.<\/p>\n
