{"id":6953,"date":"2015-03-23T10:14:48","date_gmt":"2015-03-23T17:14:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cciforum.dreamhosters.com\/?p=6953"},"modified":"2015-03-23T10:14:48","modified_gmt":"2015-03-23T17:14:48","slug":"inside-knowledge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cciforum.dreamhosters.com\/?p=6953","title":{"rendered":"Inside Knowledge."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Over the past week, I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve been venturing inside the new TSK book, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153<em>Inside Knowledge<\/em>\u00e2\u20ac\u009d, and would like to share a passage that struck me this morning.\u00c2\u00a0 I would also like to say that I feel this new book provides a wonderful introduction to the vision.\u00c2\u00a0 It provides a fresh and welcoming option with which to interest our intelligent friends, without requiring that they make a large investment up front.\u00c2\u00a0 Jack has prefaced a variety of pieces\u00e2\u20ac\u201dincluding little-known essays by Rinpoche&#8211;with his own reflections that both link them to ordinary life and place them within the broader TSK vision.<\/p>\n<p>I expect that those who recall Jack vetting the concept of an introductory book based on <em>Love of Knowledge,<\/em> will agree that \u00e2\u20ac\u0153<em>Inside Knowledge<\/em>\u00e2\u20ac\u009d admirably accomplishes the intention he voiced then.<strong>\u00c2\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>From \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Inside Knowledge\u00e2\u20ac\u009d, page 29:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Those of us educated in the modern world are already committed to expanding the scope of our knowledge; in fact, it is one of our proudest boasts that we can do so.\u00c2\u00a0 But the tools we have available, the modes of thought, are far too limited.\u00c2\u00a0 A radical shift is needed, one that will lead to a profound transformation.\u00c2\u00a0 That is what the TSK Vision offers.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00c2\u00a0 \u00c2\u00a0 \u00c2\u00a0 \u00c2\u00a0 \u00c2\u00a0 &#8220;Knowledge in the TSK Vision goes beyond the forms of knowledge we normally identify and engage.\u00c2\u00a0 Science for all it power, beauty, and integrity, has a strongly restrictive definition of what counts as knowledge; it purchases its claims to validity at the cost of adopting a highly restrictive view of what shall count as real.\u00c2\u00a0 Religion\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s commitment to a source of transcendent love is deeply healing, and points beyond the self, yet there is little room in religion for active, creative inquiry;
