I find that TSK feels most valuable when it connects with concerns of daily life.<\/p>\n
An interesting instance of this arose in connection with a potential novel I started last year but which\u00e2\u20ac\u201dbecause I did \u00e2\u20ac\u0153not know\u00e2\u20ac\u009d how to proceed– has been dormant for several months.\u00c2\u00a0 The recent exploration of \u00e2\u20ac\u0153not knowing\u00e2\u20ac\u009d as the source of knowing may have come to the rescue.<\/p>\n
I found myself questioning the strategy of trying to create a fictional world while I, the author, stand outside of it.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 It occurred to me that a better approach is to allow the unformed characters, who already live in the realm of the unknown, to be the ones who want to discover who they are and what they care about.<\/p>\n
As a result, I seem to have returned to this abandoned manuscript with a feeling that something can emerge if I stand back and don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t interfere too much.<\/p>\n
I wonder if \u00e2\u20ac\u0153empathy\u00e2\u20ac\u009d can also arise from this TSK perspective.\u00c2\u00a0 Sensing that others are uncomfortable with the unknown realm and\u00e2\u20ac\u201dlike ourselves\u00e2\u20ac\u201dtied into strategies of knowing that don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t work very well, an empathic recognition of our shared relationship to the unknown may arise naturally.\u00c2\u00a0 Such empathy could have the added benefit of allowing us to relate to the unknown in a new healing way, on behalf of ourselves and of others.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
