There are many ways to experience ‘not-knowing<\/em>‘… I get glimpses…’the feel of it<\/em>‘…between the whispers of openness and the structures that confine my attention.<\/p>\n

Relatively speaking, the last few days have been a little hectic, but everyone is gone now, and I have the house to myself\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6the time in space is uncomplicated, silhouetted against the memory of the frenzied flurry. Now…this very moment is unfurled, a gift of life, this precious feeling…under the turning leaves\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6<\/p>\n

And in tune with the time and space, Erin sent me the following\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6<\/p>\n

The trees rise taller and taller, lifted
\nOn a subtle rush of cool grey flame
\nThat issuing out of the east has sifted
\nThe spirit from each leaf’s frame.<\/p>\n

For the trailing, leisurely rapture of life
\nDrifts dimly forward, easily hidden
\nBy bright leaves uttered aloud; and strife
\nOf shapes by a hard wind ridden.<\/p>\n

The grey, plasm-limpid, pellucid advance
\nOf the luminous purpose of Life shines out
\nWhere lofty trees athwart-stream chance
\nTo shake flakes of its shadow about.<\/p>\n

The subtle, steady rush of the whole
\nGrey foam-mist of advancing Time
\nAs it silently sweeps to its somewhere, its goal,
\nIs seen in the gossamer’s rime.<\/p>\n

Is heard in the windless whisper of leaves,
\nIn the silent labors of men in the field,
\nIn the downward-dropping of flimsy sheaves
\nOf cloud the rain-skies yield.<\/p>\n

In the tapping haste of a fallen leaf,
\nIn the flapping of red roof smoke, and the small
\nFootstepping tap of men beneath
\nDim trees so huge and tall.<\/p>\n

For what can all sharp-rimmed substance but catch
\nIn a backward ripple, the wave-length, reveal
\nFor a moment the mighty direction, snatch
\nA spark beneath the wheel!<\/p>\n

Since Life sweeps whirling, dim and vast,
\nCreating the channeled vein of man
\nAnd leaf for its passage; a shadow cast
\nAnd gone before we can scan.<\/p>\n

Ah listen, for silence is not lonely!
\nImitate the magnificent trees
\nThat speak no word of their rapture, but only
\nBreathe largely the luminous breeze.<\/strong><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
