SPRING LILIES<\/strong>

Green stemmed flowers lift
\nFrom a truly old
\n Cut glass water pitcher,<\/p>\n

The stems cut within the week,
\n The pitcher in Ireland
\n Over a century ago,<\/p>\n

Its ringing melodic formal design,
\n Caught by the just light,
\n Its lilt and life held, just so,<\/p>\n

And the stems rise too, rise quietly,
\n Though they strike one as stillness so rarely does,
\n As an ever deepening source
\n Of lovely living sound,<\/p>\n

But the many deeply burnished pinkish blooms,
\n Are that sound itself, they display such gracefulness,
\n Such a ribbony playful rush of light,
\n That they ensnare, they please, the eye,<\/p>\n
