Watching a splash of light dancing around my livingroom wall, as I was reading the image from DTS of a containing box being folded up, I wondered where the light\u00c2\u00a0on my wall came from.\u00c2\u00a0 Without getting up, I worked out that it must be sunlight reflecting off something spinning in the breeze in the back yard.\u00c2\u00a0 The sun, 90 million\u00c2\u00a0miles away,\u00c2\u00a0must be in the container, as well as the spinning thing and my livingroom, I thought.\u00c2\u00a0 But\u00c2\u00a0the sun wasn’t really a part of any space realm that I was experiencing–any more than\u00c2\u00a0the world outside the images appearing on\u00c2\u00a0a TV screen are part of my experience.\u00c2\u00a0 The image of removing the container didn’t seem very real precisely because my sense of space is\u00c2\u00a0itself so dim.\u00c2\u00a0 The earlier thought experiment of stretching out a cell was more vivid for me: it immediately threw me into the sense that both before and after the expansion, objects are really just fields of energy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
