Investigating this \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcprocess\u00e2\u20ac\u2122, he suggests\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u00e2\u20ac\u0153<em>In saying that the world is \u00e2\u20ac\u02dclower knowledge\u00e2\u20ac\u2122, we can go deep enough to call everything into question without inconsistency. The unchallengeable can be challenged\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 [This thinking process, this \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcworlding\u00e2\u20ac\u2122] seen as \u00e2\u20ac\u02dclower knowledge\u00e2\u20ac\u2122\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 [becomes] tediously repetitive and deadening.  It is basically a functioning on the level of a recording machine\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6superficial responses laboriously and mechanically attributed to a knowing subject.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><em>There is very LITTLE DEPTH OR SENSITIVITY to \u00e2\u20ac\u02dclower knowledge\u00e2\u20ac\u2122, and LITTLE FLUIDITY as well.  Everything is forced into conformity with a certain implicit logic of how knowing occurs and of how the known world is structured.  \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcLower knowledge\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 acts like a kind of magnet, attracting experiences and presuppositions that obscure understanding of the nature of appearance.  IT TRACKS ONLY THE MEREST SURFACE OF SPACE AND TIME, giving rise to a \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcspace\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 and \u00e2\u20ac\u02dctime\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 which are limited, and which in turn LIMIT THE CAPACITY TO KNOW, TO EVALUATE. \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcLower space\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 does NOT PROVIDE SUFFICIENT ROOM FOR A BROAD PERSPECTIVE. \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcLower time\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 RUSHES ALONG TOO FAST FOR US TO TAKE STOCK OF THINGS AND TO REFLECT PROPERLY.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><em>The fact that \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcLOWER\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 SPACE AND TIME ARE NOT OPEN ENOUGH FOR BROAD PERSPECTIVES, or for profound and sensitive contemplation, is reflected in the unreliable and unfulfilling character of so much of our ordinary knowledge. We often hear that \u00e2\u20ac\u0153the truth will set us free.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d  But sometimes we suspect that the truth may not turn out to be so pleasant or liberating after all.  Such a glum possibility seems plausible to us precisely because we have had all too much exposure to the \u00e2\u20ac\u02dclower knowledge\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 approach to truth.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><em>Like a magnet, \u00e2\u20ac\u02dclower knowledge\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 tends to bind us to a certain range of obscuring and polluting phenomena.  It creates a kind of local gravitational field, and in trying to find our way out of it through using \u00e2\u20ac\u2122lower knowledge\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 itself, we are actually carrying it along with us.  We become entranced with our discoveries and innovations, not seeing their future consequences\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><em>Our failures to consistently distinguish between time-bound values and verities and timeless ones, as well as our inability to evaluate the long-range consequences of our actions, are signs that a certain type of knowing has been employed, A KNOWING WHICH LACKS THE ABILITY TO PENETRATE TO THE CORE OF \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcTIME\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 AND DISCERN THE BREADTH OF ITS VARIOUS FACETS\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 However, these frustrating features are not just \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcthe way it is\u00e2\u20ac\u2122, the human condition.
