I missed last week’s call (will listen to it later), but since no one has posted on the\u00c2\u00a0substitution exercise suggested by Jack (story for model) I just wanted to say that I\u00c2\u00a0found it useful.\u00c2\u00a0 It helped me to see that our reliance on models feels like a specific instance of our more general reliance on stories.\u00c2\u00a0 The latter feels much more generally present in human life and includes a lot more of our emotional need to find a place for ourselves, from infancy onwards.\u00c2\u00a0 Yet the juxtaposition of those two words promotes a recognition of how desperately we humans seek a place for ourselves on which we feel we can rely.\u00c2\u00a0 And the element of projection present in both our models and stories goes a long way towards explaining the mess we are in.–Michael<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
