About Michael Gray

I first started studying TSK in the mid 1980's and have since attended a number of retreats and workshops at the Nyingma Institute, in both TSK and Buddhist themes. I participated in the life-changing Human Development Training Program in 1991, and upon returning to Albuquerque co-founded an organization, Friends in Time (with a friend who has Lou Gehrig's Disease), which continues to serve people with similiar disabilities. I contributed an essay to "A New Way of Being"--the last one in the book--in which I describe how learning to honor who I have been has broadened and deepened my openness to present experience. I live in New Mexico with my wife and two sons.

A striking transition–LOK 14

In LOK chapter 14, I appreciate the painstaking analysis of how descriptive knowledge–in order to be legitimately based on polar knowledge–requires three things: access to the contents of polar knowledge; accuracy of polar knowledge itself; and an existing world to … Continue reading

As my mind ponders how (or if) my body really points to my mind, it occurs to me that the act of breathing–with its voluntary (mind-directed) and involuntary (body-directed) triggers–might be a good place to look.  I’ve often noticed, while … Continue reading

Jumping into the stream of time

I’ve noticed that this on-line TSK course–already in week 3–is one of the driving forces that makes me aware of linear time.  It sets a pace that invites me to keep up, and reflects back that I am running behind.  Most … Continue reading

LOK Exercise 48–putting Space, Time, Knowledge at the center

Thanks, Jack.  I didn’t suceed in developing much engagement with the other participants but I did all the reading and some of the exercises and I have appreciated your guidance–both through the Does Space Get Wet and your postings.  LOK exercise 48 … Continue reading

Space, Time and Knowledge at the center

Putting Space at the center helps me to focus awareness on how self and world are indistinguishably intertwined.  Putting Time at the center and seeing how the dynamic flow of life is greater than my self-centered concerns feels very pertinent … Continue reading

KTS 40 (Spaces above and below ground)

In a living tree, water is flowing uphill and sunlight is burrowing into the darkness. Two branching structures mirror each other. One, rooted in the earth, expresses the living energy of the sun in the darkness–reaching out for water and … Continue reading

Going without Going–Unpredeterined Sameness

First, I would like to introduce myself: my name is Michael Gray and before Christmas, Jack gave me permission to join this TSK On-line course.  I am grateful that he made this exception and I spent the next month or … Continue reading
