About Michael Gray

I first started studying TSK in the mid 1980's and have since attended a number of retreats and workshops at the Nyingma Institute, in both TSK and Buddhist themes. I participated in the life-changing Human Development Training Program in 1991, and upon returning to Albuquerque co-founded an organization, Friends in Time (with a friend who has Lou Gehrig's Disease), which continues to serve people with similiar disabilities. I contributed an essay to "A New Way of Being"--the last one in the book--in which I describe how learning to honor who I have been has broadened and deepened my openness to present experience. I live in New Mexico with my wife and two sons.

Waiting by the Wayside

In my dream I’m waiting by the side of the road: I’m a half-eaten hotdog, flung out the window of a speeding car, lying in the gutter. I hope I won’t be picked up by a homeless person or a … Continue reading

Aftermaths and Precursors

Ah, the before and the after! How have they managed to crowd out my awareness of my feelings and my freedom to ponder the meaning of it all as my life putts along? But there’s no use pretending that it … Continue reading

Mr. Dumpty’s Rehabilitation

After his great fall, Mr. Dumpty took to wearing a corset. His figure had never been the kind that favored off-the-rack clothing, even those catering to pear-shaped figures, and, due to the way his shoulders tapered into his head, he … Continue reading

The Truth about Crows

Franz Kafka’s aphorisms still speak to the reality in which we live. One observation, which ostensibly targets our playful, adamant cousins, the crows, strikes a disturbing note for our present time: “The crows maintain that a single crow can destroy … Continue reading

Stirring the Caldron of Time

As I opened the fridge door and wondered what would take the edge off my hunger, before I want out for my walk, I heard my mother, sitting at the kitchen table, say, “I never wanted to be so opinionated.” … Continue reading
