Perhaps this is not an experience of variations which Jack is writing about in the last orientations. But perhaps it is worthwhile to describe it because it is connected to having fun – a playful approach to exercise 14 LOK “Moments between moments” and may be exercise 12 TSK “Space between thoughts”.
Listening to Rachmaninovs Symphony Nr.2 presented by St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra. After some minutes there seems to be no listener, no listening: the music doesn`t appear from moment to moment but alltogether in one big moment or even coming from the future to arrive now (like a reversal of time). Instead of a succession of moments there seems to be no time – only one big “now”. Being aware of the observer and the owner of experience and the music there are again moments between moments – but not one after another – more many moments parallel to each other – flashs of thinking, flashs of noticing thinking processes arriving and having a choice. By allowing thinking contents to come to the surface complete different spaces are emerging in time: moments of aliveness and joy connected to past experiences and the experience just now. Are there moments between moments or worlds between worlds? The experience doesn`t feel like an experience of linear time. Simultanuasly with the music playing time seems to be playing or dancing with all senses, feelings, emotions, thoughts…a symphony emerging from Rachmaninov 2. Symphony. Endless moments in one – by opening the heart – opening to joy. I would like to be able to describe it better. Karin
