Assignment: Read Dynamics of Time and Space, DTS 16-22, which introduces the ‘field communiqué’. Write about this: what does this discussion add to your understanding?

I have during calm observation become aware, below my usual level of contextual thought-spinning, or ‘worlding‘, of an involuntary lightning fast referring, where me-subject and objects alternate back and forth, like switching focus rapidly between still frames, sometimes they merge which expands the objects possibilities to include whatever I can dream of. I am NOT in control of the referring, it seems to happen too fast for me to slow it down.

This intimacy with an event is very basic, a pre-verbal level of mental activity. However, the ‘merging‘ gives greater opportunities with the object prior to all the limiting labels, and qualifiers with which I overlay it. For instance, I remember merging with a tree outside my porch, of course, it was my accumulated knowledge and history with that tree, not the actual physical thing outside my window. I merged with my ‘worlding‘ tree, my past and present contextualization of TREE. But when I did I was completely free to travel through it, become its pulp, feel the rootedness, be the bark, the moisture rising, and so on. I was so surprised by the freedom of my experience I said to myself, why stop there? So I traveled down through the roots to the soil, through earth and rock, worms and insects, and entered the foundation walls of my house traveling through timber and studs, insulation and drywall. I felt my home, the encasement, a steady and breathing structure… with a beating heart, circulating air… the built-up structures were ALL me, an embodied knowing capacity. The entire experience was amazingly free and invigorating.

I can understand that the co-referring interactions sustains the identity of each particular part, while each part in turn confirms the manifested whole. I was like a fish swimming in my environment, but I also WAS the environment. Something like a Zero-fish that refers itself into a populated watery existence, but is still fully reducible to the zero it came from.

If interested, a couple of years ago I posted these practice notes:

Be aware what captures your attention as being part of a field communiqué

    Exploring the Field Communiqué

The individual appearances that make up the content of experience manifest in terms of the field communiqué, which unites them in somewhat the way that stock ownership unites the shareholders of a corporation. Emerging from the field, entities appear hand in hand. They enact a special intimacy that allows for characterizations, distinctions, and an interplay expressed through temporal ‘from-to’ structures.

In terms of the field communiqué, the realness of the real is simply the proclaimed authenticity of this mutually co-referring identification: a vital aspect of the ongoing intimacy of all that manifests. But this claim of authenticity does not operate only with regard to the whole: It is distributed out to encompass each communicated entity as well. We could even say that the purpose of the co-referring interactions that give the whole is to establish the certainty of each individual identity. This, then, is the ongoing meaning that the communiqué expresses: The whole sustains the identity of each particular part, while each part in turn confirms the manifested whole.

This mutual presenting serves the purpose of the present present. Each specific juncture is authenticated—identified as the ‘real object’ of an authentic perception. Imposed as the self-juxtaposition of the presupposed, this unique juncture self-manifests, owning the qualities that qualify it to be.

The image of the field communiqué suggests how appearance can appear as substance. It confirms what we earlier assumed: The substantial nature of what appears is simply an output of appearance. Though substance appears as substance, it does not depart from the original interplay of the communiqué, in which each appearance is echo-like in nature. The ‘source’ of substance is the interaction of what does not have substance. Each qualified imposed uniqueness is presented within the field. For each appearance, there is nothing above or beneath it, no point of origination more solid than its own communication.

Ha ha! I think maybe we’re the guys hogging the water cooler! Transfixed on the rising bubbles. :-)

    Hi David,
You seem remarkably able to travel in the middle ground between the mind’s first encounter with images and feelings and its subsequent attempt to label, categorize and file away. If the “field” ordinarily communicates in the “field communique’s” government paperwork” versions of reality, you are the renegade poet in the IRS office lunchroom. –Michael
