Perhaps the primary story that informs our way of knowing and our way of being is the story of the self as an entity, separate from all it knows. The story is conveyed by culture, time, family of origin and by immediate experience. Perhaps self as it is known is an interpretative tendency; a learned way of knowing that is the consequence of this pervasive story.
