Gone to space – the one who gave us Mork and Mindy
A golden cockerel atop a village church proclaims his passing
A slick of tears bathes my cells all day
It feels as though I’ve lost a brother I never met
I wish I could have been there; been gifted to listen deep enough to offer a new approach
Satyr of satire, committed to the shattering of positionings
Celebrant of freedom and the zest of life
Great actor / clown, in the ancient Greek tradition. Embodying the Knowledge of the Fool; mirror of the human condition who points the way beyond, he showed us the importance of fostering authenticity, creativity and courage in the young (Dead Poets Society); that even unbearable wounds are healable (The Fisher King); that humanity and outrageous humour can bring succour in impossible conditions (Good Morning Vietnam); the power of steadfast loyalty (Good Will Hunting); that there’s more to being a doctor than being a medic (Patch Adams), and that we are definitely not what we appear to be (Mrs. Doubtfire).
This last Full Moon was strong and took him in its wake…
May the luminous wisdom of the Five Lights, and
the Love at the heart of Time
accompany him beyond all sorrow
