In today’s class Michael made the point that the words in the title all refer to a limited view of infinity; requiring a closer look.
In school I was hopeless at mathematics and have been pondering the difference between ratio, proportion and percentage in relation to TSK language. I was happy to hear Jack say that ‘ratio’ in TSK goes beyond the limitations of its mathematical definition.
To help me I did a search of RATIO in SDTS on the disc which comes with When it Rains. It revealed a multitude of references in that text and was interesting to see what the search (FIND) function picked up – any word which has ‘ratio’ anywhere in it, such as ‘operation’, ‘inspiration’…etc
In-spiration (breathing in spirit, without which no ratio can come alive)?
re-spiration (the return of breath, keeping us alive even when we lose consciousness)
a-spiration (yearning for the infinite)
How interesting that inspiration, respiration, aspiration not only contain the word for breath and hope, but also the word for the connection between points and quantities.
