Hi all,
I intend to get off to a more timely start this week.
You will see that the discussion at the beginning of ch. 15 (p. 281) is related to my last couple of posts: within “the obstructing presence of ordinary knowing” we can learn to move and experience ‘lightly’ and with clarity, bearing in mind that ‘clarity’ has to do with light. So the question to ask yourself during the week, as you do the exercise(s) and reflect on the reading, is whether your experience confirms what is said at the bottom of p. 281: “reality . . . no longer seems broken up by knowings, lapses of knowing, confusion, limits to knowledge, and so on.” Don’t expect huge shifts, but perhaps some subtle indications.
You could think of the ‘light manifestation’ exercise I have suggested as related to the approach described on p. 282: “working back” from objects and experiences to the knowingness and clarity they bear. On the other hand, Ex. 32 is more about evoking the clarity directly.
