…Time continues in the wind… permeates and abides with space as dried leaves signal and drift… loss and allowance co-occur, gift and loss pervade presence, the very center of this point… feeling the field while reading Ken’s poem…
THE OCTOBER’S OKAY POEM
by Ken McKeon
I think there is
Nothing left to lose,
And I am wrong, I mean
Where are my keys?
The clanging metallic garble of entry,
The door is high,
Is as wide as a big river,
And it is locked,
It is a dream door,
And I have no key,
I’ve searched my pockets,
Wedged my meaty fingers into them,
Found nothing there but dust,
My rage is boundless, useless, foolish,
But I still treasure it,
Like the sky must treasure the sun,
Is that true?
I’ve no idea,
But it keeps losing it every night,
It’s cooler then, often cold,
And then the countless stars,
They just show up,
They swing on through the heavens
Like a song I do not hear, but love so still,
And I try to sing it out each night
Until I finally fall asleep.
I wake to find the sunlight streaming through
The window, the barren tree limbs, the sky,
It is October and things are still okay.
THE FEEL OF THE FIELD…
To activate alternatives, a radical shift is called for—a TRANS-lation from one way of being to another… Trance is ‘trans’, an active movement into transparency that allows for the light of knowledge. There is transition from structure to openness, from hardness to flexibility. Mind, heart, and brain, together with the energy of the field grow more relaxed and loose. THE FEEL OF THE FIELD is no longer thick and heavy, no longer subject to anger, pain, paranoia, and worry. The system whose operation makes conflict inevitable has been transcended.
Trance is the entry point for knowledge, the point of transition that allows access where concepts can only pass by. With the opening of trans, the energy of mind is no longer frozen into thought, emotion, and other rigidities. Confusion dissolves, and a process of natural healing begins. Mind, self, and energy transit together, journeying toward the same goal, opening newly.
