RETURN TO LIGHT…

I am reminded of the TSK practice called ‘Return to Light’,

“Look within your thoughts… Become familiar with darkness; be ready to let yourself sink into it without losing awareness completely. Gradually you will be able to sense fluctuations within the dark: moments that are more luminous, when experience seems lucent and free. The quality is one of shining through, of a delightful aliveness. To dwell within these moments is to engage a familiarity with light that makes its own path…”
‘Dynamics of Time and Space’, by Tarthang Tulku, p. 327

FIREFLY
By Ken McKeon

I know nothing,
That’s my reason
For still fishing in the muddy rain puddles
That line my mind on forgotten trails,
I will never catch anything,
But I have caught that thought,
I have held it near to me,

It’s a sad realization,
A flickering bulb,

A firefly that dots and shifts around a bit,
Then vanishes
Like a touch of silence in this noisy world,
I’d follow that small touch out,
Enter it, hang around,
Stay as quiet as I can,
Maybe it will show itself again,
This quiet nub of light,

Heart of light, fire light, this wisp of a small winged thing,

The open mind that came up with that
Well might make my heart sing,

So cool, so wonderful,
The love that silence brings.
