About Michael Gray

I first started studying TSK in the mid 1980's and have since attended a number of retreats and workshops at the Nyingma Institute, in both TSK and Buddhist themes. I participated in the life-changing Human Development Training Program in 1991, and upon returning to Albuquerque co-founded an organization, Friends in Time (with a friend who has Lou Gehrig's Disease), which continues to serve people with similiar disabilities. I contributed an essay to "A New Way of Being"--the last one in the book--in which I describe how learning to honor who I have been has broadened and deepened my openness to present experience. I live in New Mexico with my wife and two sons.

Field Communique (Session 4, Assignment 4).            Compared to these pages in DTS, the image of a field felt more open in the recent readings in KTS.  In the presentation of the “field communique”, where what … Continue reading

Session 4, assignment 3

Field Gravity           I’ve been feeling confused and unable to gather together the various strands of my TSK studies.  And something similar is going on in other areas of my life.  Since I am spending more time both on TSK … Continue reading

“Field” in the Orginial TSK Book           The word “field” does not appear in the index of the first TSK book, which seems fitting since the concept of a field suggests a presence  residing in the background … Continue reading

TSK is not just for Philosophers

After more than 20 years, a non-profit (Friends in Time) that I started with a friend who has ALS appears to be about to float belly-up.  We started this unique program after I returned from a six-month retreat at the … Continue reading

Assignment 2, Session 3

Peering Outside/Inside (Moments, Stories, Perspectives).            I did play with the exercises, and as usual I loved the readings.  But in the end, all I can think to say this morning seems to reside on the … Continue reading

Assignment 1, Session 3

In Search of a Missing Connection            The practice part of TSK is hard for me.  At least these days it is.  In the 1980’s I delighted in the world they opened, but now I find … Continue reading

“X” Marks the Spotless

Looking for the presence of time between the ‘moments’ I experience, I can glimpse the limitations of what I call ‘moments’. Observable thoughts and perceptions catch my attention precisely because there is a stake in them for ‘me’. –I want … Continue reading

When, if not now?

What does it mean to refer to the “now” as a “moment”?  After all it is always now, never not now.   As soon as I refer to a moment it seems that I am viewing time as broken into … Continue reading

Assignment 4, Session 2. The Pervasive Patterns of the Thinking Mind A valuable aspect of the postings on the CCI website for me is that I am able to see that our group includes a range of minds, each with … Continue reading

Where and when does the conductor sit?

Jack’s invitation to investigate the quandry that–no matter what insights come “you are still stuck in the position of being the one who knows.”  could be addressed if we were able to truly become the “conductor” of knowledge (not its … Continue reading
