When I am feeling negative, isn`t it my Ego who is longing for more aliveness and freedom? So I do not really accept “the way things are”, my way of conducting and constructing. In the last orientation Jack is talking about “the improvisational style ( improvisation in a theatre): accepting what appears and responding in a creative way.” I like this comparison, it seems to be helpful for me. Noticing negative feelings, thoughts, images, memories – in the moment I do notice and accept the narrative, the telling itsself, there is a little flickering, a hint of a gateway – then I am often grasping for that gateway and the next narrative is going on. But there is something at the background, a glimmer of release, relaxation and gratitude or even joy.

Thank you Michael for your encouraging comment. So much ease! So if there is a part of ourselves that is naturally alive and free which wishes to return home, it is wonderful to have spiritual friends who encourage each other to really return home. I do appreciate this, gratitude to each of the members of our study group, to Jack, Rinpoche and the teachings.
Hi Karen,
From one ego to another, perhaps it is NOT our ego who longs for more aliveness and freedom. When we long to be free and alive, perhaps it is a part of ourselves that is naturally alive and free which wishes to return home. The Ego, although useful and probably an inevitable participant in our daily life, is probably uncomfortable with freedom. And like the accountant who does our income taxes, we can appreciate his/her skill at arithmetic without accepting him/her as our guide to the inner world we wish to discover.
