Assignment – Symbols of Higher Space

I worked with an emotional and mental frustration about double-booking myself and missing out on something I really wanted to do. In the lower space of the content of my experience, I was telling a story about myself and increasing the build-up of emotion – reinforcing the emotional block – into a slight downward spiral. This space had very little ‘room’. The story  – my thoughts about myself – kept bouncing off the walls of the space I was inhabiting (or creating even, by my engagement with it) and by doing so a pressure built up. As such it was just going to get worse, or at best keep recycling.

As I experienced and witnessed this I brought the exercise to mind. How was this entanglement a symbol of a higher space either involved or not being in play? Immediately I saw that part of my story was that I was not connected enough to others and was missing out on an opportunity. Just moving into observation of this was the first step in engaging a higher space.

From that initial release into greater openness, I was able to expand into space itself as a central factor in my experience. This created a sense of peace right away. It also allowed me to move into a fuller experience of space as a ground, just touching a bit a profound ‘oneness’ with no distance, and this put my sense of not being connected enough to other people at ease – we share the same fundamental basis of being, fully connected, right now. My emotions eased and my sense of missed opportunity was much lighter. I could be more spacious again in my embodiment.
