Okay, I took that title from last week’s reading. But at this point, I encourage you to read lightly, to read around, to “activate receptivity” to light.
The posts about language have made me sensitive to it in our reading.
p. 201 “The light mechanism goes toward physical appearance, but also toward consciousness and toward the rhythm. measurement, and force of time.’ To find light within what time presents . . . where does that lead us?
It might be good this weak to track “restraining thoughts and feelings” (202). We certainly have enough of them to work with. We know that TSK talk might say that these are also light manifestations, or that thoughts “can become transparent.” (203) But how do we activate that insight? Perhaps the twin focus on light and on the rhythms of time can help.

This morning I sat and watched how a sense of light is present in the looking as well as in what I look at. It gave me a warm, bright, optimistic feeling about life. It occured to me that as soon as I opened my eyes, I was likely to get caught up in a world of objects and plans. This seemed to me an interesting idea to write down so I open my eyes and picked up pen and paper. Sure enough, even though the bright yellow pad, the white pen, and the splash of sunlight on the floor seemed notionally full of light, the experience felt dimmer than when I had been sitting with my eyes closed. Then I turned that proposition around and asked myself whether it would be possible to bring the sense of inner light with me into the experiences of the day to come. Somehow just thinking that has given me a day–as busy and full as most–a lovely light feeling. Perhaps I have glimpsed how “The light mechanism goes toward physical appearance, but also toward consciousness . . .”? –Michael
