Something New and Something Old

In our final call for the year last Sunday, Jack asked how working with the original TSK book has compared to our earlier experiences with TSK books published later.  Thinking about this since, it came to me that I have been more open to the TSK vision, in all its iterations, because of these classes and with the help of Jack’s orientations.  In the call, I mentioned how the concluding pages in the Time section are inspiring, but then couldn’t really say why.  Upon reflection, I think what I find most inspiring is the promice that we can become more spontaneous and irrepressible when we contact the third level of Time.   I see this beginning to happen.  I’ve gone, over the years, from a discouraged wallflower to someone who trusts his own impulses (which I guess are not mine but Time’s).  Building on positive tendencies already in evidence, is so much more inspiring than glimpsing that our lives aren’t really working.  For this  happier way of living, I am greatful to this extraordinary vision.  Happy Holidays, and I hope we all return in January. –Michael

About Michael Gray

I first started studying TSK in the mid 1980's and have since attended a number of retreats and workshops at the Nyingma Institute, in both TSK and Buddhist themes. I participated in the life-changing Human Development Training Program in 1991, and upon returning to Albuquerque co-founded an organization, Friends in Time (with a friend who has Lou Gehrig's Disease), which continues to serve people with similiar disabilities. I contributed an essay to "A New Way of Being"--the last one in the book--in which I describe how learning to honor who I have been has broadened and deepened my openness to present experience. I live in New Mexico with my wife and two sons.
